2015 AILA Chapter Chairs Conference San Diego

I stopped by San Diego for the November 12-14, 2015 AILA Chapter Chairs Conference.  It was packed with useful information, although to be fair, there were a few slow moments.  I saw super programs on labor certification, bond and detention, waivers, the complicated issues surrounding entry and adjustment of status and lots of other useful information, a "crimmigration" panel featuring Kathy Brady of ILRC and Raha Jorjani of the Alameda County Public Defender - crimmigration is the pop term for immigration consequences of criminal convictions, California's new law SB 674 that sets time limits on how long state law enforcement agencies can take to respond to I-918B requests and places the burden on law enforcement to explain the reasons for refusing to issue a U visa law enforcement certification.

I got a chance to visit with family in San Diego, chat with AILA's current president and see some friends from law school and my supervising attorney at Federal Defenders of San Diego where I clerked while in school.  Overall, a fun trip.
